GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) conducted by
all IITs and IISc jointly at all India level for the purpose of granting eligibility
to B.Tech/B.E qualified candidates to take admission in M.Tech/M.E/PhD

The examination conducting bodies organizes this exam on behalf of NCB-GATE,
Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI. Candidates who qualify this
examination may use the score card for taking admission in various colleges
that offer M.Tech/M.E programmes. Not only this, various Public Sector Units
(PSUs) absorbs GATE qualified candidates under their training programmes.
GATE Exam 2014:
The examination date for GATE- 2014 has been disclosed
and applications have also been received by the authorities. Now the
preparation is going on for conducting the exam that fall in the month of
February. The examination is conducted for the various disciplines/ streams
such as Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation
Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering,
Computer Science and IT, Electronics & Communication Engineering.
GATE Cut off Marks:
Cutoff marks decide the number of candidates who are
declared qualified out of total number of candidates. The cutoff marks are
different for the different categories such as the qualifying marks for various
disciplines would be high/low as per the categories (General/OBC/SC/ST). The
qualifying marks for General Class are kept high comparatively to other

Total candidates appeared for the GATE Exam-2013-14 was
approx over 7lakhs and out of them 1, 36,699 were declared qualified including
all the categories.
Candidates who have applied for 2014 GATE Exam must check
and analyze the cutoff marks of previous year so that they can make an estimate
for their session and thereby make them ensure pursuing the M.Tech/M.E
programmes.
