Examination Pattern/ Levels of SSC Constable/ Rifleman Exam

1. Physical Standard Test

Document Verification Round will be held in order to allow candidates for the PST round.
Relaxation in the Physical Standard Criteria is granted to the candidates of North Eastern and J& K candidates and other Tribes of India.

After the fulfillment of physical standards, male candidates will be required to run 5 KMs in 24 minutes and female candidates need to run 1.6 KMs in 8.30 minutes

2. Physical Efficiency Test:

Physical Efficiency Test will not be meant for the X-Servicemen candidates; however, they require qualifying in Medical Verification phase.

PET for the candidates of Ladakh Area:

Apart from giving the above PET, male candidates of Ladakh region need to run 1 Mile in 06.30 minutes and 800 meter in 4 minutes.

3. Written Test

a) General Knowledge and General Awareness: 25 marks
b) General Intelligence and Reasoning: 25 marks
c) Elementary Mathematics:  25 marks
d) English/Hindi: 25 marks

Total Number of Questions: 100

Total Exam Hours: 02
Examination Type: Objective Multiple Type Question

4. Medical Examination

Candidates should have proper Eye Vision and should be free from any major deformity such as flat foot, squint in eyes, knock knee, bow legs Etc. Mental status of the candidate should be sound.

NOTE: PST and PET is just qualifying in nature and its marks will not be added to final Merit List.

Examination Syllabus:

General Knowledge and General Awareness: Geography, Current Events, Economic Scene, History, Culture, and Scientific Research and General Policy Etc.

English/Hindi: Basic knowledge of English or Hindi language, comprehension and ability of writing will be tested.

General Intelligence and Reasoning: Similarities and Differences, Analogies, Space Visualization, Analysis, Arithmetical Number Series, Judgment, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Relationship Concepts, Verbal and Figure Classification, Discriminating Observation, Non-Verbal Series, Coding- Decoding, Arithmetical Reasoning, Etc.

Elementary Mathematics: Percentages, Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers,  Decimals and Fractions and Relationship between Numbers, Fundamental Arithmetical Operations, Simple and Compound Interest, Discount,  Ratio and Proportion,  Averages, Profit and Loss, Time and Distance, Mensuration,  Time and Work, Ratio and Time Etc.

Minimum Percentage of Marks for Selection:

Unreserved and Ex- Servicemen: 35%

Scheduled Caste/ Tribe and Other Backward Class: 33%

The minimum cutoff marks may go high/low as per the decision of the Commission.
